The March issue of the Lifeline is now available HERE. Featured in this issue is the latest information about the 2010 Rendezvous and many other summer event, updates from winter gatherings, and the first installment of John and Deanna Peterson’s The Log of Charrette (Winner of the 2009 Founders’ Award).

 A Port-Huron/Sarnia group, The Mariner's Coalition, has produced a handy business-card with border-crossing contact information, as well as a CD-ROM explaining customs and immigration regulations for Canada-U.S. border crossing off the Michigan coastline. Click here for a video/audio preview. Copies of the business card and CD-ROM will be available to GLCC members at the Grosse Pointe and Sarnia meetings in April.

Attendance at Strictly Sail in Chicago, January 28-31, was surprisingly strong, and the GLCC booth did very well signing up new members. Read more here... In the photo, left to right, are GLCC booth workers, Mel Wallbank, Becki Boehlke, and Lou Bruska.

About 90 members and guest attended the GLCC's Lake Superior Mid-Winter Dinner on Jan. 16. A major draw were the world-famous cruisers Roger Swanson and Gaynelle Templin, who spoke about successfully going through the Northwest Passage in 2007, and received a special Club commendation from Commodore J.E. At the 2010 GLCC Lake Superior Dinner, Fleet Surgeon Gail Bowdish was announced as the winner of the Golden Wrench Award. This honor is given annually in recognition of members, who have demonstrate remarkable ingenuity, safety, and proper seamanship in dealing with unusual events.
