Enhanced Member List

The website Members List has been enhanced to include all GLCC members. Click on the Members List.  For web site members, their username is in blue; click on that to see the member's information. For non web site members without a user name, their last name is in blue; click on that to see the member information.

Prior to this change, the member list on the web site has been limited to only those who have registered for web site access (web site members).  Thus one could not find members who had not registered for the web site. This has been confusing to those who have looked for GLCC members on the web list but we're unable to find them because they weren't registered web members.

We hope this enhancement will eliminate confusion in finding members.

Port Captain Introductions: Ben and Dana Liss

Please welcome Ben and Dana Liss, as newly appointed Port Captains for Burns Waterway, Ind. (M-29) both grew up around the water: Ben spending his summer vacations fishing in Door County, Wis., and Dana with her family as a certified Lake Michigan beach bum. When Ben and Dana first met nine years ago, Dana encouraged Ben to get his old 1973 Starcraft up and running for use on Lake Michigan. They are now boating on a Four Winns 268 Vista, named Seapickle II and moored at Marina Shores at Dune Harbor, in Portage, Ind. Please click here to read further.

Freighter Arthur Anderson arrives in Port

The famous freighter Arthur M. Anderson finally made it into port for winter lay-up on March 4.  It's month-long futile slog from Indiana to Ohio to pick up cargo ended with it returning to Sturgeon Bay, WS with empty holds.  It looks like this winter's ice build up on the Great Lakes will be a repeat of last year's deep freeze when the shipping slowdown cost 4000 jobs and $705 million in economic losses.  See full article here.

A link has been added to the Weather, Navigation & Marine section of Links to view maps of the ice buildup on the Great Lakes.
