Lake Erie Picnic was truly a group effort
By Rear Commodore Jim Ehrman
The Lake Erie Picnic June 1 at Herl’s Harbor in Port Clinton, Ohio (E-16.8), drew more than 40 members and guests.
They found a sunny day and a picnic of hamburgers, brats and more. It was breezy near the water, but the tablecloths stayed on the tables thanks to some handy use of duct tape.
As usual, the picnic had an enjoyable mix of newer members and those who’ve been with the club for a number of years, along with several guests.
This picnic is at a terrific venue for members to get together early in the boating season to catch up with one another from the winter and chat about plans for the current season.
Even those members who no longer have a boat shared in the camaraderie. Most participants drive to the event while others are dockers at the marina.
Many thanks to Port Captain Ken Vannorsdall who chaired the event. Ken and his crew of helpers made sure the group had plenty of food. Many hands pitched in to help set up, cook, and clean.
Our members are the ones who make GLCC events a great success. A huge thank-you goes to all involved.
