Hope to see you all on the water soon
Our many Great Lakes Cruising Club spring and summer events are in their final planning stages. Keep an eye on future Lifeline newsletters for details.
Our membership is growing
We had a very successful membership promotion for January and February, with 56 new members. That’s nearly double our usual volume of new members. Congratulations to our membership and digital marketing committees for their work in making this a successful new member promotion.
We need to keep the focus on growing our membership for our club to continue to be vibrant. We all need to work together to help grow our club.
Lifeline is making a difference
We launched our digital Lifeline just over a year ago, and I’m pleased that our digital marketing efforts continue to pay off. Our team can see how many email “opens” we have and which articles get the most “reads.” This helps us continue to develop and focus on areas of interest to our membership.
We also include a limited number of Lifeline articles to non-member prospects, which has helped us spread the word about the GLCC to those interested in joining but who have not yet pulled the trigger on full membership.
These non-members can’t log onto our website, so they do not have access to our event calendar or Harbor Reports.
Speaking of Lifeline, this month’s edition is packed with useful information. We’re reprising an article on Spring Outfitting, planning your summer cruising and a great article on marlinspike seamanship, aka knot tying.
GLCCSchool is a winner
The GLCCSchool is wrapping up another great season of classes. It looks like we had over 1300 attendees take a class this season. It’s a great benefit to our club and I thank Mark Gagyi and the team for their efforts this past season.
Join in our summer events
I mentioned our upcoming events earlier. There are a number of fun events being planned for the club in 2025. Among them are the Lake Superior Launch Brunch on Saturday, May 17, the Lake Erie Rally June 12-15, the Region 47 Picnic, and, of course, the Rendezvous in Little Current July 13-17.
Due to scheduling conflicts, we have, however, had to postpone the previously scheduled Spring Launch in Alpena, Mich. The board meeting has been moved to a virtual event, with all GLCC members welcome to attend.
Be sure to check the website here for a list of all of our upcoming events.
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on the water soon!
