‘Superior Way’ 5th edition, by Bonnie Dahl, available for preorder

It is with great pleasure that I share with the GLCC members that the 5th edition of Bonnie Dahl’s book, Superior Way, is now available for preorder.

Bonnie and Ron Dahl have made immense contributions to the Great Lakes, and particularly to the Lake Superior cruising community. Ron and Bonnie have cruised every inch of Lake Superior’s shoreline, coves, harbors and anchorages multiple times, gathering extensive data for GLCC Harbor Reports and for their book.

After retirement, they often spent their off-season driving the shoreline of the lake to gather additional data from local residents. Their travels to the Caribbean and beyond, while also significant, pale compared with the impact of their cruising and writing on the Lake Superior boating scene.

We had the pleasure of meeting Ron and Bonnie in the mid-70’s when they bought their first cruising sailboat, and we had purchased our first trailerable pocket cruising sailboat suitable for limited coastal cruising on Lake Superior. We both bought our boats from the same Twin Cities boat dealer (now a long-time family friend) and worked to commission our respective boats in the same yard.

Their son recently completed building an aluminum cruising sailboat in the Pacific Northwest, and is preparing to embark on his own ocean cruising adventures in the Pacific. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
