2019 GLCC Georgian Bay and Lake Ontario Rallies (Region 35)

Rear Commodore Eric Sunstrum and the Port Captains in Region 35 would like to consult with members regarding the location and timing of the Georgian Bay and Lake Ontario rallies next summer. We would like to be able to promote both events at the GLCC booth during the upcoming Toronto International Boat Show being held January 18 to 27, 2019.

The Georgian Bay Rally (GBR) was deferred in 2018 because both the 2018 GLCC Rendezvous and the Wilderness Rally were held in Georgian Bay last summer. In previous years, the GBR has been held at Beausoleil Island, Wiarton, and Odjig Island during the months of June or August. In 2015, the Lake Ontario Rally (LOR) was held in Rochester NY. For the past three years, the LOR has been held at the Trent Port Marina in Trenton ON. Generally the LOR is held later in July although last year it was held in June to allow members time to travel to the Rendezvous in Killarney. Organizers and past participants at the LOR opted to return to Trent Port Marina year after year because the facilities and hospitality offered by the staff were regarded as among the best offered on the Lake.

We would appreciate receiving your input regarding the following:

• Your willingness to participate in the organization of the Rally.
• Possible locations for the Georgian Bay and Lake Ontario Rallies in 2019;
• Suggested dates for the rallies (usually a weekend);
• Ideas for activities during the Rally Maximum registration fee you would be willing to pay (typically $25-35 USD in past years);
