Registration is now open and filling fast for our 60th anniversary Rendezvous in Little Current, Ont. The team has built what should be a great program for the event, scheduled from July 13-17, 2025. It is a historic Rendezvous for our Club. My wife, Karen, and I look forward to seeing many of you there and sharing the beauty of the North Channel. A Wilderness Rally also is being planned to follow the Rendezvous. Stay tuned for details.

We enjoyed seeing many of you late last month at the Toronto Boat Show and Member Meetup at the National Yacht Club in Toronto. Thanks to Eric and Cynthia Sunstrum, Dave Spencer, and the entire Toronto Boat Show team for all their hard work.

I’m very pleased with the number of new members recruited as a result of the Toronto show. We continue evaluating our trade show programs and overall marketing outreach as a leadership team. It’s important that we continue to grow our club membership, so I appreciate the hard work being done by our digital marketing committee, led by Rob Hillman and Amy Babinchak. There is much work to do here as we move away from the traditional boat shows in cities like Cleveland and Chicago and move toward more digital membership programs.

The GLCC office move to a fully remote operation is progressing well, with a few of the expected bumps in the process. We had to move our operations out of the Port Huron, Mich., office. We determined the best way to support our membership most efficiently was to move to a remote work environment for our office team. This required a much-needed update to our office technology and an office clean-out. Past Commodore Doug Jackson, Vice Commodore Craig Shantz and I recently met in Port Huron for a nice catch-up and file review.

Looking through some of the old photos and materials reminded me of the great history of our Club. We’re working on digitizing some of these older materials and photos, and I hope to share some of them with you in future Lifelines.

The GLCCSchool continues to offer some great classes this month and into March. A reminder: All GLCCSchool classes continue to be FREE to GLCC members. Take advantage of this great resource and sign up for a seminar or two. With courses on cruising destinations as well as boating education, I expect you will find something that will be of interest to you with courses on weather, cruising the Triangle and Great Loop and an interesting course on the Geology of the North Channel.

Finally, a bit of housekeeping: Yvonne and Lynn from headquarters are preparing to do the editing for the 2025 Membership Directory and Fleet Register in early March.  Your information is taken directly from your member profile on the GLCC website. So now is an excellent time to take a quick look and confirm that your information is as up-to-date as possible.
