There is a new effort to build a tall ship for Lake Superior. They are looking for people who would be willing to serve as board members, as well as financial contributions. Check out their website at https://sites.google.com/site/lakesuperiortallships/

The Mission of Lake Superior Tall Ships is;

To teach seamanship, personal responsibility, teamwork and self esteem, while building skills in leadership and citizenship,

to inspire all generations to be responsible stewards of Lake Superior (and all lakes, rivers, and oceans),

and to promote awareness, appreciation and preservation of Lake Superior's marine communities and maritime heritage.

LSTS will work to accomplish this mission by:

- providing day sails, overnight voyages, public sails, charters, group tours, and port visits aboard a modern replica of an 1859 Revenue Cutter that patrolled Lake Superior,

- adhering to the recommended best practices of Travel Green Wisconsin and WI Clean Marinas,

- sourcing materials and labor for the construction and maintenance of our tall ship though from Lake Superior communities,

- offering programs to and partnering with organizations that share in all or part of our mission.
