1884 Wreck Found in Lake Superior

The 1884 wreck of the J.S. Seaverns has been located near Michipicoten Harbor along the remote Canadian Superior shore. A team of divers including Ken Merriman, recent speaker at the 2015 Lake Superior Dinner meeting, found the wreck and captured the stunning images and video in this article. 

Port Captain Introductions: Andy Wright & Jannet Smithrim

     Andy has been sailing since summer camp back in the 1960s. In the 1990s he started sailing keel boats out of Bayfield on the east side of Lake Huron and has spent many summer weeks in and around Tobermory and in the North Channel. 2016 Lifeline Magazine Now Available!

The Fall 2016 issue waves goodbye to summer with several wrap-up articles on the festivities held in many picturesque locations throughout the Great Lakes. GLCC Members can also say hello to fall by enjoying these up coming activities; the Lake Erie Regional Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio also the Great Lakes Cruising Club and Great Lakes Foundation Annual General Membership Meetings to be held in Toledo, Ohio, so be sure to read about these events. Many members enjoyed GLCC’s annual Rendezvous in Duluth-Superior so we’ve included a yearbook-style spread of photos shot by our members and a nice read about all the happenings that went on. Great Lakes Crusing Club Member Spotlight - Matthew Cook & Walt Grabowski                                        GLCC members Matthew Cook and Walt Grabowski, are out on Lake Huron this month conducting an underwater inspection of the water intake. The sixteen foot wide, six mile long tunnel has a capacity of 400 million gallons a day, and was the site of one of the worst construction accidents in Michigan history. Click here to read more

Attention GLCC Members: Profile Confirmation Needed

As the boating season comes to a close, your GLCC office is also closing out the 2016 fiscal year as of 9/30. We are asking that members and significant others please login to the Great Lakes Cruising Club website and update or confirm their profile information by 8/31/2016. This will insure that we have current information for your 2017 membership dues renewal forms, your 2017 membership directory, the 2017 GLCC membership cards and any future mailings.
